I didn't use any liquids under the back panel, just the dry brush. Not entirely sure what's happening, but now the keyboard isn't lighting up and the keys don't work. Dusted the rest of the computer with an air can and cleaned the keyboard area with an all purpose cleaner and a surgical towel my wife brings home from the hospital. The only thing that I did was unscrew the three screws that held the fan and cleaned it off carefully with a clean dry paint brush. About 10 screws on the back and the entire back panel came off. I have a Lenovo Y510p and it was pretty simple to take apart.
Thought I would do something helpful this morning and teach my kids how to clean the inside of a laptop.
